Songs to get you through the pandemic.
(Note: Boost Your Playlist is for songs either from artists/bands that are local to DC, that recently performed live, or ‘should’ be performing live in DC at some point this year.)
Former students of The George Washington University, indie rockers The Colonies (now The Crystal Casino Band) released a new song in March called “More Than Fine”.
With three albums under their belt, including last year’s Bound To Be Something Good (2019), they are working on the fourth now to go with the new single. The band had a bit of a line up change, and is now a 3-piece local band with Pete Stevens (vocals and guitar), Jarrod Hendricks (bass) and Joey Mamlin (drums).
“More Than Fine” kicks off with a surf-rock vibe, about taking pleasure in the woes of an ex that wronged you. Though it is uptempo in beats and acts like a sunny day song, the irony of the lyrics, sung plaintively by Pete, show the heartbreak lurking under the surface.
Take a listen!
