More excellent virtual live music coming!
Virginia’s own Lauren Calve will perform a virtual concert on Friday, May 15th, as part of Sixth & I Synagogue’s series of Living Room Sessions.
The concert will stream via their Facebook page at 4pm.
Lauren is a local Americana and blues musician, performing with both her guitar and a lap steel guitar. She has a new EP, Wildfire, scheduled to come out on June 23rd. Her new single “Better Angels”, a twangy, hopeful and optimistic ballad, is inspired by the phrase ‘battle for our better angels’, meaining we have the courage and can rise to all occasions. She wrote the song after hearing an interview with the author (Jon Meacham) of The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels, a book about Abraham Lincoln.
We caught her live-in-person performance at Pearl Street Warehouse earlier in 2020, as part of the Sweethearts of Americana Tour, where she played “Better Angels” as well as the self-titled song from Wildfire which she described as ‘the only love song she’s ever written and she’s currently engaged to the guy it is about.’
Head over to Facebook on the 15th and give a listen and a donation. And be on the lookout for her EP in June!
