Songs to get you through the pandemic.

Note: Boost Your Playlist is for songs either from local DC bands, or from artists that recently performed or ‘should’ be performing live in DC at some point this year.

Country artist Michaela Anne just released a new single titled “Good Times“, a song that was recorded before COVID-19, but contains a message we certainly all need.

The intro to “Good Times” is subtle, but captivating, it puts you in a wistful mood. It speaks to maintaining optimism even around the lows of life, that there is always ‘something to keep the good times with you everywhere you go.’

Michaela said about the song, ‘Hope and optimism are two things I have to work hard to keep, I often write songs as reminders or affirmations for myself and for the people I love. “Good Times” is a prime example of that. Trying to remember the blue sky is always there behind the clouds.’

The song was part of the recording sessions for her last album, 2019’s critically acclaimed Desert Dove (via Yep Roc Records), but previously not released. Now is always a good time for good new music.

She last performed live in DC in October 2019 at DC9.

Michaela has been doing weekly livestream sessions titled ‘A Livestream From Here, For’ via Instagram and Facebook on Thursdays at 8pm.
