The New York-based duo Overcoats brings their electronic pop stylings to DC on January 24th!

Opening for Tennis at the 9:30 Club, the Overcoats are Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell. Hana has a connection to Washington, DC, as she grew up here, but also lived overseas. JJ was born in London and grew up in New York. They met at Wesleyan University in 2011 and a harmonious duo was born.

Their first album is YOUNG, released in early 2017, and it’s about transformation and vulnerability and the songs weave between connection, love, inspiration, and familial challenges. The harmonies when they sing together remind me of a little pop and a little folk, set to minimal electronic music.

Their first single “Hold Me Close” is a slow jam, while “I Don’t Believe In Us” is a catchy, up-tempo tune that speaks to disillusionment moving towards liberation.

Get your tickets to the show here.

Tickets are $20. Doors open at the 9:30 Club at 7pm. Opening for Tennis.
