Drink This: Tomb Essence @ Atlas Brew Works

Don’t stop making stouts, DC!

I’m a huge fan of dark beers. Breweries can make as many porters and stouts as they want, as far as I’m concerned, and I’ll line up to try them.

On a recent evening visit to the tap room at Atlas Brew Works, I tried a beer flight with one new (to me) stout. The Tomb Essence (10% ABV, 38 IBU) is a sweet and strong Imperial Stout, that quickly had me feeling light-headed. To be fair, I had yet to eat food since lunchtime. It’s description says its made with rye, molasses and caraway seed, and there is a taste in there something akin to chocolate.

Currently only available on draft in the tap room, I highly recommend you venture over to Atlas and give it a sip. Or a gulp. Don’t be fooled by the name, it is good!
