If you’re jonesing for bluegrass and folk music in a party-like atmosphere, look no further than the 8th annual Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival on Saturday, May 13th!

That it’s on an island, in the middle of the Anacostia River, that maybe you don’t get to that often (or at all), is only part of the charm.

Local bands, food, beverages (including the adult kind), children’s activities, a marketplace and other outdoor activities with REI (like kayaking) are also on tap.

The festival serves as a way to support the revitalization of the Anacostia River, as proceeds go to Living Classrooms, a non-profit that manages the island and educates youth in DC.

Nearly 40 bands and artists will perform across five stages, including the Sligo Street Stompers, Town Mountain, and The Woodshedders among many, many more.

Find the full lineup and schedule here.

Free shuttles will operate between the island and the Stadium/Armory Metro.

Get your tickets here.

Tickets are $30 (or $125 for VIP). Gates open at 11am, the festival runs from 12-8pm. Get outside and listen to some music!
