Since 1987, Filmfest DC has been introducing DC to feature-length and short films from all over the world in most of the genres imaginable. 31 years and over 1000 films.

This year, Filmfest DC will offer over 70 movies and events in various venues and theaters around DC. Find the full list and times here.

Here are three movies that look interesting to me:

Strangers on the Earth
By walking the Camino de Santiago (Spain’s 600-mile pilgrimage), people find meaning in their lives. It weaves multiple stories in English and Spanish, while following the main character who treks with his cello. I’ve often thought about doing parts of this trek, so am curious to see it from a practical point of view.

Goldstone
Set in the outback of Australia, the cinematography looks amazing. It’s a story about finding a lost women, while uncovering a web of lies and corruption. I instantly thought of Fargo the TV series, but set in Australia.

Last Man in Aleppo
Set in Aleppo, it chronicles two rescuers from the Syria Civil Defense as they rescue victims over a year. It is a timely look at the tragic reality that is happening in Syria.
