What concerts are you excited about in October?

A jam-packed month of concerts is coming in October. Let’s take a look at a curated list of which ones you should be attending. Leave a comment on this post with how many shows you plan on seeing this month!

And always support local music!

Note: We’ve highlighted local artists in bright red.

Top 20 Concerts for October

All Things Go Music Festival @ Merriweather Post Pavilion (10/1/22) Sold Out (Pro Tip: This festival used to be behind DC’s Union Market, but with all the new high-rises going up in that area, they had to move it to Merriweather. Always a good time, this year you can see Lorde, Bleachers and Mitski as the headliners.)

Marina (opening for Panic! At the Disco) @ Capital One Arena (10/1/22)

Flowerbomb @ DC9 (10/2/22) (Pro Tip: Local DC rock band, check out our interview with Rachel Kline, the lead singer of Flowerbomb.)

The Gaslight Anthem @ The Anthem (10/5/22)

Momma @ Songbyrd Music House (10/6/22) (Pro Tip: This band just opened for Snail Mail in September, check them out!)

Snail Mail (opening for Turnstile) @ The Anthem (10/9/22) (Pro Tip: Check out our review of Snail Mail from a few weeks ago at The Fillmore Silver Spring.)

Cannons & The Knocks @ 9:30 Club (10/11/22) Sold Out

The Beaches @ Pearl Street Warehouse (10/11/22)

The Killers @ The Anthem (10/12/22) Sold Out (Pro Tip: The Killers are also playing at Capital One Arena on 10/10 if you missed out on tickets to The Anthem.)

Dead Horses w/Andrea von Kampen @ DC9 (10/12/22)

Cherub Tree w/ Social Creatures + Grady @ The Pocket (10/13/22) (Pro Tip: Two local bands, including Grady who recently opened for Pale Waves at The Howard Theatre. Give them a listen!)

Automatic @ Comet Ping Pong (10/13/22)

Echosmith @ 9:30 Club (10/16/22) (Pro Tip: Echosmith recently released a re-imagined version of their big hit “Cool Kids”, and their latest album is 2020’s Lonely Generation. Originally four siblings (now down to three after a departure), this family of indie pop titans are from California.)

Wild Pink @ DC9 (10/16/22)

Gorillaz @ Merriweather Post Pavilion (10/17/22)

Metric @ The Fillmore Silver Spring (10/22/22) (Pro Tip: Seems like its been a minute since Metric last came to the DC area. They are the Doomscroller Tour for their latest album, Formentera (via Metric Music International), released in July. They always put on an excellent show!)

beabadoobee @ 9:30 Club (10/25 & 10/26/22) Both Sold Out (Pro Tip: beabaddoobee (or Beatrice Kristi Laus) is coming to DC for two shows with her acclaimed album, Beatopia (via Dirty Hit).)

Joe Satriani @ Warner Theatre (10/26/22) (Pro Tip: Joe always puts on an amazing show, both visually and with epic guitar soundscapes, as evidenced by the last time we saw him live.)

Broke Royals w/Cinema Hearts @ Songbyrd Music House (10/28/22) (Pro Tip: The Broke Royals, a DC rock band, are having their album release show. As a bonus, you can see the incredible local power pop stylings of Cinema Hearts!)

Tegan and Sara @ 9:30 Club (10/30/22) Sold Out

Bonus Time

(More! When we said 20 concerts, we were being facetious.)

Durry @ DC9 (10/9/22)

Santigold @ The Fillmore Silver Spring (10/11/22) Cancelled

Colbie Caillat @ Lincoln Theatre (10/12/22)

Joan Osborne @ The Hamilton LIve (10/15/22)

The Smashing Pumpkins @ Capital One Arena (10/18/22) (Pro Tip: I prefer highlighting smaller shows, but it is The Smashing Pumpkins!)

The Ballroom Thieves @ Union Stage (10/21/22)

Violent Femmes @ 9:30 Club (10/23 & 10/24/22) Both Sold Out (Pro Tip: This isn’t in the Top 20 because we don’t need so many sold out shows, but find a way to go.)

Dehd @ Black Cat (10/23/22) (Pro Tip: This Chicago indie rock band will be playing songs from their new album, Blue Skies (via Fat Possum), so you should listen.)

Madi Diaz @ DC9 (10/25/22)

Outerloop w/Railgun + Greenland @ Pie Shop (10/27/22) (Pro Tip: Railgun will play a new song “Yo Sansón Tú Dalila”, in collaboration with Outerloop’s Taisha Estrada.)

Arcade Fire @ The Anthem (10/27, 10/28 & 10/29/22) Last two shows Sold Out (Pro Tip: Despite the recent news stories about frontman Win Butler, I do love Arcade Fire.)

Lightmare w/ Time is Fire + The Roaring Shell @ The Pocket (10/29/22) (Pro Tip: Local bands, Time is Fire is great, and Lightmare should be great live as well.)

Vienna Teng @ The Hamilton Live (10/29/22)
