Every year, the National Park Service (NPS) offers five days of free entry to our National Parks and all other NPS units that have an entrance fee.

There are around 115 NPS units that charge a fee, including all 61 National Parks.

The NPS units in DC are always free, but the closest National Park is Shenandoah NP, so head over for free entrance!

The next closest National Park is Cuyahoga Valley NP in Ohio, but there are dozens of other parks, battlefields, trails, monuments, preserves, etc., in DC, Virginia and Maryland, all part of the wonderful network of land honoring the beauty and heritage of the U.S. Find a list for Maryland, Virginia and DC too.

The other days in 2020 that you can gain free admission are:

* Saturday, April 18 (first day of National Parks Week)
* Tuesday, August 25 (NPS Birthday)
* Saturday, September 26 (National Public Lands Day)
* Monday, November 9 (Veteran’s Day)
