Concert Pick: Sweethearts of Americana @ Pearl Street Warehouse (1/23/20)

Sweet Hearts of Americana
Coming to Pearl Street Warehouse!

Get your Americana fix!

Pearl Street Warehouse is the place to be on January 23rd. If you love Americana music, and even if you don’t yet, a slew of local artists will perform under the banner of ‘Sweethearts of Americana’. The lineup stirs in some country, folk and even a bit of punk influences.

Karen Jonas recently released Lucky, Revisited in 2019, and has a new album on the way in 2020. Lucky, Revisited is re-recordings of a selection of songs from her first three albums, since the songs have evolved into something new over the course of touring. It’s kind of like a greatest hits album. From Fredericksburg, VA, Karen performs frequently in the DC area, and we had the chance to catch an earlier performance at Pearl Street Warehouse in 2019. (Read the review here.) She also won the DC-based 2019 Wammie Award for ‘Best Country/Americana Artist’.

Lauren Calve is from DC, and plays the guitar and lap steel player. Lauren has two albums out, and a third on the way in 2020, and has been touring the country with her brand of blues, country and rock.

Mink’s Miracle Medicine is comprised of songwriters Melissa Wright and Daneil Zezeski. They mix in some indie punk and old-time country, and have two albums so far under their belts.

Definitely give this show your undivided attention on January 23rd!
