Lights, beer, action.
The winter wonderland that is the National Zoo’s ZooLights returns on Black Friday, November 29th.
It’s a fine time to grab some friends and your non-clear travel mug (for hot toddies of course), and stroll around the Zoo. The lights are cool in the dark, the gingerbread house competition usually serves up some impressive artwork.
Between November 29th and January 1st (except December 24, 25 and 31), find live music, winter-themed food and drinks, and of course lights. 500,000+ lights (environmentally friendly) of animals and snowflakes and other good things. You can also find new art exhibit called ‘Entre Les Rangs’, a walkable field of light. And 25 3-D animal lanterns of zoo-specific animals. The first person to post a photo of the tiger lantern (and tag @adcjourney on Twitter) gets a prize.
BrewLights is another activity you can enjoy. Held on on Thursday, December 12th, taste craft beer from dozens of breweries and enjoy some free snacks. Tickets are $65 (discount for FONZ members). Proceeds go to support the Zoo’s work on animal care and preservation.
