The geeks were right!

The Faint, an indie rock, new wave, post punk type band will bring more synth than you can handle to the 9:30 Club on August 3rd.

They are from Omaha and have been around even since the mid-1990’s. Their eighth (non-remix) album is titled Egowerk (via Saddle Creek), and dropped in March 2019. It spans a five year gap from the previous album and their new material explores the themes of working on yourself, not letting the ego take over, and avoiding becoming a less recognizable version of yourself (especially when engaging on social media platforms). Sounds like lessons we all need to reflect on. Musically, at least.

I first saw The Faint open for Ladytron in 2009, and then a few years later as the headliner at the 9:30 Club. It’s been awhile, so I pulled up one of their biggest songs from that 2009 era, ‘The Geeks Were Right”, to get myself amped for their upcoming show.

Their new songs are also worthy, like “Child Asleep”, a frenetic synth-laden dance track, that sounds like a space opera battle in motion.

Get your tickets here.

Tickets are $25. Doors open at the 9:30 Club at 8pm. Openers are Ritual Howls and Closeness.
