It must be festival season!

The 10th annual Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival returns Saturday, May 4th.

The festival won the Washington City Paper’s The Best in DC ‘Best Music Festival’ for 2018.

Every year 30+ bands perform around Kingman Island, over five stages. The main acts for 2019 include Dustbowl Revival and Hackensaw Boys. You can also witness the great country singer/songwriter, Karen Jonas, who we just reviewed at Pearl Street Warehouse. (Check out the review)

See the full list of bands and artists here.

Kingman Island is a big space, so explore around and find the beer, food trucks, and a kids zone. The Beer sponsors include Atlas Brew Works and Coney Island Brewing Co.

The festival benefits Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region which maintains the islands and works to educate disadvantaged youth in the region through job training and hands-on environmental education.

It is also a Zero Waste event: no glass or one-time use plastic bottles, containers, etc. You’ll get a reusable cup for beer but should bring an EMPTY reusable bottle for water.

Get your tickets here.

Tickets are $35 ($100 for VIP). Festival hours are 12-8pm.

Kingman and Heritage Islands Park (575 Oklahoma Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002). Entrance located at RFK Stadium Parking Lot 6.
