Some cool things, but also a few that suck.
Catching up, here is a roundup of the notable stories over the last month or so.
Red Bear Brewing has opened in NoMa! Verified open, and it is a great space, with plenty of room and cool art (like in the bathrooms). I liked most of the beers as well. (Website)
HopFest at DC Brau was a fun event, with a ton of excellent hoppy beers from only local breweries. (Review)
Atlas Brew Works will open a new location near Nats Park! Sweet! (Eater DC)
A new taco place El Bebe is open in Navy Yard. Excellent. (Website)
The Outsider on H Street NE opened and nice to see it’s getting some positive reviews. Has been on my list of places to try. Glad the space is occupied once again, I used to love SOVA back in the day. (Frozen Tropics)
3 Stars Brewery is planning to open its new 6,000 sq. ft. beer hall (next door) around May this year! (Washington City Paper)
Dacha Navy Yard could open by baseball season! Will it? (Washingtonian)
Cane should be opening soon on H Street NE (where Uni Bistro used to be). Serving jerk wings and South Asian-influenced Caribbean flatbreads. (DC Eater)
The brick and mortar version of Stellina Pizzeria (next to Trader Joe’s near Union Market) is also just about to open. Lots of construction going on. (Website)
House of Representative endorse DC statehood for the first time! It’s a step. (DCist)
Also, I was on vacation for week. The Grand Canyon is awesome.
EatBar is closing today! Noooo! Sadly, I only went a couple times, but found their beer selection excellent. (Popville)
We don’t need any more bummers.
