Concert Pick: Courtney Barnett @ The Anthem (7/24/18)

Courtney Barnett will rock The Anthem this July!

Her second album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, came out in May, and is a fiery testament to alternative rock, the way it’s meant to be played. Gritty and full of wry, witty lyrics.

Take “I’m Not Your Mother, I’m Not Your Bitch” where the title says it all, but the driving guitars and grungy sound dares you to ‘put up, or shut up’ because nothing ever changes when we argue.

“Nameless Faceless” is a sprightly, jangly ode to men’s and women’s misguided perceptions of each other, but tries to find humanity even in the anger. This feels like a Liz Phair song from the late 1990’s, before Liz Phair wandered over to pop for a spell.

At any rate, if I can tell you how I really feel, I’d say this will be a good show on July 24th and you will be at The Anthem.

So get your tickets here.

Tickets are $40-60. Doors open at The Anthem at 6:30pm. Show at 8:00pm. Openers are Vagabon and Julien Baker.
