The Wind + The Wave hits DC on May 16th, bringing a bluesy indie-rock sort of vibe to DC9.

The band is Dwight Baker and Patricia Lynn, who came together in Austin, Texas in 2013. They released their first album, From the Wreckage, in 2014 and are now touring for their second album, Happiness Is Not a Place.

They’ve been quite prolific in recording music and touring over the past three years, including releasing a full album of covers in 2015. Their cover of Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars” was also featured in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

Happiness Is Not a Place features the first single, “Grand Canyon”, which is a rather fierce ode to letting go of someone who can’t stay still. Many of the songs on the new album seem like an introspective journey to learning how to live with someone you love, like “It’s a Longer Road to California Than I Thought”. Should be a good show.

Get your tickets here.

Tickets are $14. Doors open at DC9 at 8:30pm. Show at 9pm (the openers are The Native Sibling and Justin Kawika Young).
