2025 Updates
November 2025
Two new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard at #12 and #27. And we have a back-to-back winner (and their third this year)!
October 2025
Only one new entry to the All-Time Leaderboard at #26 and another winner taking their second win this year.
We only had seven Riders reach 1,000 points in October. The trend of a wider range of different Riders getting more points is slowing down. According to Greater Greater Washington, September was the first month where CaBi ridership dipped compared to the previous year’s month (down 6% compared to September 2024) since December 2022. Quite an impressive streak, but we all know the reason.
September 2025
One new entry to the All-Time Leaderboard at #25 and a winner that gets their second win in 2025. Let’s ride!
August 2025
Nothing too exciting in August, except another first time winner. Congrats to JH080. This from a long-time Rider, also entering the All-Time Leaderboard at #19 as the only new entry this month.
Activity decreased a little in August, likely for a couple reasons. One you can guess, but the other is one I will say something about. Capital Bikeshare updated their Terms of Reference recently to address a problem they were encountering. Specifically about cheating to game Bike Angels, and if you partake you can be removed. Some of the point totals over the last year and a half have been astronomical, requiring significant time to achieve without some advantage. I can only speculate which Riders were involved, but some of them haven’t been on the Top 20 list in the app for the past two months. If there is a way to confirm, I will update the All-Time Leaderboard accordingly. The big point totals started around the same time that CaBi introduced the new reward system that included gift certificates and direct deposits. Anyway, don’t cheat! #bikeangelsgate #cheatingsucks

July 2025
In July we saw four new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard, at #5, #9, #19, and #23.
13 Riders reached 1,000 points this month, breaking the previous record of 11 Riders (in April and May this year).
We have a brand new first-time winner, with the fifth best point total ever, and the best total so far in 2025. DC759 (8,284 points), welcome to the club! The 1st and 2nd place finishers this month both got over 6,000 points again. Time for a nap.
June 2025
June was a banner month for Bike Angels! We had an impressive four new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard, at #6, #8, #18, and #19. The bar to get on the Leaderboard is almost at 3,000 points.
10 Riders reached 1,000 points this month, but we set a brand spanking new record of seven Riders reaching 2,000 points or above, including two that reached over 6,000 points. Take a breather, that is a lot.
June also saw one of the most competitive battles for 1st Place, with the winner clocking about 2,100 points over the last 5-6 days to overtake the leader for much of the month (themselves clocking about 1,600 points in that span). The final score was 6,678 (DG237) to 6,444 (DC472). Insane!
And CaBi announced price increases to the system, including a $120 Annual Membership Fee (up from $90), and an increase of the per minute rate for eBikes at 15 cents a minute (up from 10).
May 2025
Two new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard, at #11 and #14.
Another Rider reached 5,000 points in a month. That’s a lot!
Once again, 11 Riders reached 1,000 points in a month, tying last month’s record breaking performance.
Let’s Ride!
April 2025
Bike Angels put forth a solid effort this month, setting a new CaBi record with 11 different Riders reaching 1,000 points in a month (previously it was 10 Riders in October 2024). We also witnessed three different Riders reach 3,000 or more points in the same month, also a first!
Three new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard, at #7, #11, and #20.
This month’s first place battle was tense over the last week, with two Riders jockeying back and forth for the title. Then the last two days the winner racked up around 1,000 points and skyrocketed away, so… flawless victory? If only we all had that kind of time! We’d all be winners!
Get out there and ride! Be a winner!
January 2025
January was fricking cold, so it’s no surprise Riders invested less time and effort on Bike Angels, but some still put in the effort. No new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard, and the overall point totals were less. Besides the cold, I also noticed that most days a majority of stations only had 1 point (or 2 or 3 if you unlocked the boost) available, sadly not many 2, 3 or 4 point stations (or with boosts). That played a major factor in my own and presumably other’s ability to gain points.
January saw a first time Monthly winner (GK138). Welcome to the club! December saw a first time winner as well (DR472). For the rest of the year, we’ll probably be stuck with the same few that dominated in 2024.
The country is in chaos, but at least we have something practical and hopefully useful like Bike Angels to distract us. Did everyone see their Bike Angels Recap (gone now as of a few days ago)? That is a cool new feature. I finished in the Top .04% for total rides and points. The most interesting stat was ‘xx people rode a bike you dropped off‘. I would like to know how that is calculated, if anyone has insight.

2024 Updates
December 2024
Merry new year. Only one new entry on the All-Time Leaderboard at #25. Three additional Riders got to 1,000 points in December.
I’ll post a 2024 End of Year Report shortly.
November 2024
Nothing much to say from November other than Happy Thanksgiving!
Two new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard, at #2 and #13.
October 2024
Three new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard! We have a new #1, and new entries at #6 and #22. And the four-month winning streak is over! We have two people that seem to do Bike Angels full-time, racking up silly amounts of points each month. Ever since the money has been in play, the monthly points have been increasing exponentially. October’s winner is worth about $3,400 after cashing in! Buy a nice mattress and get some sleep.
We had 10 Riders reach 1,000 points in October, another record. I just happened to be the 10th to reach that milestone and break the old record of nine.
Sometime soon I’m going to post the Leaderboard as they were at the end of each year – 2021, 2022 and 2023. So we can still see a time before the crazy Riders took over. Also, I’ll add second place to the list.
September 2024
Three new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard! Coming in hot at #3, #9, and #16. Nine Riders achieved 1,000 points this month, tying the all-time record.
Now, for the first time, the threshold for getting on the All-Time Leaderboard is 2,000 points in a month.
Lyft has had a Bike Angels Community Space running for the last few years, mostly for those in New York, but have now started inviting Bike Angels in DC. I haven’t yet seen too many Capital Bikeshare (CaBi) users in there. I’m not sure if they invited everyone yet, or if it’s a gradual process. Let me know if you’ve got an invitation and have joined.
September’s winner gets to four straight monthly wins, and seems to be doing Bike Angels as a full-time job. You can’t get those point totals without spending 4-5 hours a day, at minimum. Having now learned about how serious some New Yorkers are about Bike Angels, I’m going to guess this person is a New York transplant (they first appeared on our DC leaderboard in May of this year). Prove me wrong!
August 2024
There were two new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard, at #2 and #9, and seven Riders reached 1,000 points in August.
This month’s winner makes it three monthly wins in a row, marking the 4th time a Rider has completed a 3-peat.
Good Riding!
July 2024
What can you say? I guess if you don’t have anything else to do, just be a Bike Angel full time. Right? Our July monthly winner apparently had nothing else to worry about in July, because they blew the old record (only a month old itself) right out of the water. 11,053 points in a month! That is more than most active Riders get in a whole year. Case in point, only two people got more points in 2023 (for the whole year) than this Rider got in July. Congrats, but also take a nap, please. Do you like concerts? Let me introduce you to another hobby!
Only one Rider entered the All-Time Leaderboard (#1 as above), but six Riders reached 1,000 points.
June 2024
Wow, Riders just keep getting crazier and crazier! We have a new #1 with 6635 points in June (RR960)! We added four new entries to the All-Time Leaderboard, #1, #19, #21, and #25.
Nine different Riders reached 1,000 points in June. Another record! Riders have reached 1,000 points in a month for a combined 29 times so far in 2024. Seven of those were 2,000 points or above.
May 2024
Got my gift certificate! You can use it for Amazon.com.
There were seven different Riders that reached 1,000 points in May. That’s ties an all-time record.
May saw the best race to the finish of all-time, with two Riders battling for the crown back and forth the last few days of the month. Both those Riders finished at the top of the heap, finishing #1 and #3 on the All-Time Leaderboard! The new standard at the top of the heap is 5063 points in a single month.
May was also the biggest month in terms of overall Capital Bikeshare ridership ever! Keep on biking!
April 2024
April saw the fourth Rider ever (and the 7th time total) to reach 3,000 points in a month!
Five Riders reached 1,000 points in April, and there are two new entries on the All-Time Leaderboard at #7 and #15!
Bikeshare should be introducing a new round of 1,000 e-bikes soon to keep up with the demand as Spring and Summer bring out more Riders.
Still haven’t received the e-card I redeemed in early April, has anyone redeemed points and received one as of yet?
March 2024
Nothing too exciting in March except cherry blossoms everywhere! Three Riders reached 1,000 points, and there are two new entries on the All-Time Leaderboard at #19 and #28!
Bikeshare just added some new Rewards to the Bike Angels program, e-gift cards of $10, $50 or $200 values. It is not clear, nor mentioned anywhere on the app or website, what the e-cards can be used for. But we’ll find out at some point soon, I redeemed points for a $50 e-card. Let the games begin!

February 2024
February felt a bit warmer than usual, and with record ridership, it’s no surprise there were five Riders that reached 1,000 points, a first for February.
Only one new Rider entered the All-Time Leaderboard, at #27.
Bonus!
This is what the WordPress AI generator thinks of this post. Backwards riding of the ugliest bike you’ve ever seen! lol
