The colors of Snallygaster 2022
A look at the stand-out breweries at the 10th Anniversary of Snallygaster held on October 8, 2022.
A week ago, Pennsylvania Ave NW became a bastion for craft beer for six hours. It was a perfect fall day in DC and the copious amounts of rare craft beer made it even better. Breweries from across the country and Europe poured over 400 beers for the multitudes at the sold-out event to enjoy.
There were too many amazing beers and too little time/stomach space to taste them all. I knew I’d never get to try all 121 on my target list, but I did get to sample 54. It’s a shame more delicious beers couldn’t have been sampled, but unfortunately, we’re limited by the human body.
Of the beers I sampled, here are ones that stood out:
Timber Ales (New York) – Both beers were fantastic and their Barrel Aged Lumberjack Style 2022 (Black Wax) was my favorite beer of Snallygaster 2022 with a score of 4.7.
Floodlands (Washington) – All their beers were delicious and didn’t disappoint. Their Collins Family (2021) was my second favorite beer with a 4.6.
Jackie O’s (Ohio) – Delicious as always!
Juicy (Virginia) – I’d heard good things about this local brewery from Herndon. If you like smoothie beers, I strongly recommend visiting their brewery.
Cantillon (Belgium) – Still amazing!
RAR (Maryland) – If you haven’t tried their Out of Order series, go to Cambridge. You’ll thank me.
Finback (New York) – Their great reputation is well deserved.
Overall, Snallygaster showed once again why it’s the premiere beer event in DC and one of the best events in the country.
