The mighty electropop band from New Zealand, Yumi Zouma, comes to DC9 on March 12th. Get there!
They are touring for their third album Truth or Consequences (via Polyvinyl Record Co.), coming out on March 13th. The day after their show. (Maybe they’ll have advance copies of vinyl or CD.)
The lightest, dreamiest pop you can imagine comes in the form of “Cool For a Second”, a song about desperately wanting someone back.
Yumi Zouma started in 2014, and is Christie Simpson (vocals, keyboards), Josh Burgess (vocals, guitar, bass, etc.), Charlie Ryder (guitar, bass, keyboards, etc.) and Olivia Campion (drums).
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Yumi Zouma twice before, last in 2017 at U Street Music Hall (check out that review), so it will be good to see them perform again after a few years and a new album.
As a bonus, the opener is Magdalena Bay, an indie-pop duo is based in LA but from Miami. Mica Tenenbaum (vocals) and Matthew Lewin’s (vocals, production) single “Venice” wants you to live in the now, while the end of the world closes in.
Should be an exciting show from the beginning to end!
Get your tickets here.
Tickets are $15. Doors open at DC9 at 7pm. Show at 7:30pm. Opener is Magdalena Bay.
