The 52nd annaul Folklife Festival comes for only two nights in June.
Typically a two long weekend affair (10 days), this year’s Folklife Festival will be paired down to a weekend.
The focus will be on the social power of music and a peek at the DC music scene.
Why go? Typically I go for the food from other countries and cultures. There are typically lots of activities, but secondarily I enjoy the live music performances. And that’s at the forefront this year. Grand Master Flash will host a Hip Hop video experience on Sunday, June 30th and plenty of other artists like Ruby Ibarra (Filipina American spoken-word artist) will perform to celebrate the social power of music.

In 2020, the full 10-day program will return, exploring how people use cultural knowledge to adapt to environmental change.
