The Aces return to DC, and DC has taken notice!

Their show already sold out, The Aces play at Union Stage on February 26th, after a successful set at the 2018 All Things Go Fall Classic last October.

I had the chance to see them at All Things Go (Review), and it proved to be a great set, certainly among the best I witnessed.

The indie pop band is from Utah, and started back in 2008 as the Blue Aces. Cut 10 years later and they released their first album, When My Heart Felt Volcanic, in early 2018. The band is childhood friends Cristal Ramirez (vocals, guitar), Katie Henderson (guitar), McKenna Petty (bass), and Alisa Ramirez (drums).

Their first single “Stuck” is infectious as a pop song gets, while “Physical” has a subtle hint of the band HAIM’s sound. Really every song is catchy, speaking to heartbreak and making better choices. “Last One” is the last song they’ll sing for someone who doesn’t deserve it. At least we can believe they’ll deem DC worthy.

Tickets were $16 (SOLD OUT). Doors open at the Union Stage at 7pm. Show at 8pm. Opener is joan.
