Bummers and Big Deals (12/7/18)

Some cool things, but also a few that suck.

Big Deals

Cane, with cuisine from Trinidad and Tobago, opens in 2019. Opening in the Uni Bistro spot on H Street NE. (Eater DC)

DC9 is looking to help the environment with their new pop-up on garbage! (DCist)

Nice, more coffee! Bluestone Lane opens another spot in Navy Yard. (Popville)

Another place I need to try, a new pop-up hot pot place, Yang’s, by Erik Bruner-Yang coming to H Street NE. (Frozen Tropics)

DC is one of eight cities getting a XFL team (a reboot of the football league by Vince McMahon) for the 2020 season! To play at Audi Field (sharing with the D.C. United, will that work?). (XFL)

I recently spent a few days in Richmond, and the #RVA Beer Trail (there are 29 or so breweries) is phenomenal. More on that later, but beer is good.

Sweet pitching news, the Washington Nationals agree to terms with All-Star Pitcher Patrick Corbin, with a six-year contract. Last year Patrick went 11-7 with a 3.15 ERA and 246 strikeouts with Arizona.

Bummers

J. Paul’s closes in Georgetown. (Eater DC)

Shit, I wanted to try this restaurant! Ruta del Vino closes on Upshur Street. (Popville)

And dammit Uni Bistro closes! This is two blocks from where I live. Bummer. (Popville)

Riverby Books on Capital Hill is closing!

It’s starting to get cold out, so now I have to wear long sleeve shirts. Ugh.
