The Canadian indie rock band Stars comes to the 9:30 Club!
Stars formed in Toronto in 1999 and have since moved to Montreal, and have released nine albums and sundry EPs. Their latest, There Is No Love in Fluorescent Light, came out in October of last year.
“We Called It Love” and “Privilege” are the first two singles and highlight both co-lead vocalists Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan distinctive vocals respectively.
The band is Amy, Torquil and Evan Cranley (who also all participate in Broken Social Scene) and Chris Seligman, Patrick McGee and Chris McCarron.
One of the first songs I enjoyed from Stars was “Fixed” from their 2010 album, The Five Ghosts. Look forward to seeing them live for the first time.
Lastly, Stars has partnered with Plus 1 – $1 from every ticket to their April shows ‘goes towards providing indigenous women and their children a safe and supportive environment through the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal‘.

Tickets are $26. Doors at the 9:30 Club at 7pm. Opener is Dan Mangan.
