Head up to Baltimore! Because Wolf Alice!
The UK alternative band, Wolf Alice, throws in a bit of punk with their indie rock. They are touring for their second album, Visions of a Life. It is full of fantastic songs and you should own it immediately.
One such song, “Beautifully Unconventional”, has easily become one of my favorite songs in recent months. It’s a crisp 2:13 minutes that gives Ellie Roswell (vocals) the chance to stick out so sorely, with her delightful rendition and its syncopated beats. The video is fun too, a throw-back to the 1950’s aesthetic.
“Sadboy”, with a dirge-like groove, wants you to believe that you think too much.
And if you’re thinking you haven’t heard of Wolf Alice or don’t want to bother to take a trip up to Baltimore to see them live, then I’m going to have to agree with “Sadboy”.
They’ve now come through DC a number of times in the past five years since they formed, and I’ve always been unable to attend. Now is the time. The show will be the best place in the world.
