Let the warm glow of youth wash over you.
The indie rockers Gangs of Youth will play at Union Stage on March 24th.
Fresh out of high school, the Australian gents first formed their band in 2012 and released their first album, The Positions, in 2015.
Now older and wiser, they released their second album last year, Go Farther In Lightness, which led to wins at the ARIA Music Awards (Australia) for Best Group and Best Album.
The song “The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows” is to me, a lyrical and musical journey of losing your youth and finding your way in life, and love.
The latest single, “The Heart Is a Muscle”, is about trying, trying for love.
Most of their songs I’ve listened to focus on spirited rock tunes and contemplative lyrics with the slow burn voice of David Le’aupepe (lead vocals, keyboards, etc.). The band is David, Joji Malani (guitar), Max Dunn (bass), Jung Kim (keyboards, guitar), and Donnie Borzestowski (drums).
Get your tickets for March 24th here.
Tickets are $15 GA ($25 seated). Doors open at Union Stage at 7:30pm. Show at 8:30pm. Opener is Common Holly.
