Rachael Yamagata is returning to perform in DC, this time at the new Union Stage!
Rachael’s most recent album, Tightrope Walker, came out in 2016 and is her fourth full-length album since 2004. Her sound is a bit of indie rock, and a dab of indie pop.
The single “Let Me Be Your Girl” is a slow jam with horns, a graceful guitar hook, and Rachael’s distinct voice front and center turning sultry trying to woo the guy. Another single from the album, “Over”, is a more of a rocking rendition of a break-up song, and since it precedes the former song on the album’s track list, could just be the events leading up to it.
A favorite of mine, from the movie Time Traveler’s Wife, is “You Won’t Let Me”. It is a beautifully impassioned call to be let in. We all want in.
I last saw Rachael perform in DC in 2015, so look forward to hearing the new songs live. It should be a good show, plus the familiar artist Tracy Bonham (fame in the 1990’s) is one of the openers.
Get your tickets here.
Tickets are $25. Doors open at Union Stage at 6:30pm. Show at 7:30pm. Openers are Tracy Bonham and Jordan Sokel.
