Eat This: Barbacoa Taco @ Santa Rosa Taqueria

So good!

Let’s keep talking about tacos. We all win.

The recently opened Santa Rosa Taqueria is good. Joining Spike Mendelsohn’s food empire (which includes Good Stuff Eatery and We, the Pizza), the taqueira took over the former Bearnaise space on Pennsylvania Ave SE.

Of the tacos I tried, the Barbacoa was my favorite. The first bite into the beef shortribs marinated with 5-chile mole, with a few pickled red cabbages on top was incredible! I really like the mole sauce, slightly spicy but not overwhelmingly so.

The Al Pastor taco was also good, and very spicy. I’m usually a huge fan of chorizo and any manner of sauce, but despite liking the flavor of the Chorizo & Egg taco, it was drowning in too much sauce and queso. Less is more in this case.

Will be back to try some of the other types of tacos in their portfolio!
