Oatmeal Stout!
Hellbender’s inside picnic tables are an excellent spot to unwind after a brisk walk through Rock Creek Park or just around the NE quadrant.
One of my favorite beers from Hellbender Brewing Company is the North By Northeast oatmeal stout (5.1% ABV) on draft. It’s brewed with your local Compass Coffee (using their Cardinal Blend), and it is chocolaty goodness in a glass. One can easily be transfixed by the foam bubbles cascading rapidly to the bottom of the glass (like a Guinness, if you will).
On a recent visit, I tried the Nitro North x Northeast and decided I enjoy the nitro version more!
The regular version is ever slightly more bitter, but the nitro is very smooth and goes down easy.
Both versions have a high rating on Untappd (3.70 (out of 5) for the Nitro and 3.72 for the regular).
