Snallygaster 2024 is nearly here. Below are some highlights and links to the 2024 Snallygaster beer sheets.
Happy Snallygaster Eve! Tomorrow the best beer festival around returns with amazing weather and no rain this year. There will be about 400 unique beers/ciders, including some of the best beers from around the world. This year there are again more than 20 beers that are rated above 4.5 on Untappd and 99 rated at 4.25 or higher. However, this year the top of the list looks a little different with a lot of IPAs and not just barrel-aged stouts.
The top-rated beer in Untappd appearing at Snallygaster 2024 goes to “Too Hot for Horses,” by Marlowe Artisanal Ales (Mamaroneck, NY). This beer was triple dry-hopped with Nelson, Riwaka, Citra, Mosaic, Krush, and Simcoe. It’s their first triple IPA and was brewed in honor of their 5th year anniversary.
Two breweries that caught my attention were ill will brewing (Columbiana, OH) and Fidens Brewing Co. (Albany, NY). Fidens is well-known for brewing excellent beers and they are bringing some good ones to Snally with two of the top four rated beers, both are IPAs! Be sure the try their “The Day Is Night,” double hazy IPA (4.70); “He Who says Farewell,” quadruple IPA (4.69); and other fantastic beers at the Medusa tent.
Also at the Medusa tent is a Snallygaster newcomer, ill will brewing. I was not familiar with ill will, but they seem to produce some amazing beers in Columbiana, OH; near the state line close to Pittsburgh. Their stats in Untappd are truly elite with 15,574 beer check-ins for an overall average rating of 4.42!!! That’s remarkable. They are slated to bring six beers to Snally. One of them is too new to be rated, but the other five are in the top 11 rated beers for Snally. Of the six beers they are bringing, four are smoothies, one seltzer and one IPA. I can’t wait to try them!

This year, the highest concentration of top-rated beers is at the Medusa tent with a staggering average rating 4.19 among 45 beers! At Medusa are some of the breweries mentioned above in ill will, Fidens and North Park along with everywhere (Orange, CA) and Inner Voice Brewing (Decatur, GA).
