You like beer, right?
Well, good news! Port City Brewing Company is putting on their very first Port to Port Beer Festival on Saturday, August 17th. We don’t need good excuses to drink good beer over here in the ADCJ newsroom, but when one comes along we love to share.
With the price of admission, you’ll get a commemorative 5 oz. glass and three drink tickets (good for a 4 oz. pour) to use at any of the 14 different breweries slated to be there. Port City will be open to everyone, but only those with a ticket can drink the festival beers. You can also buy more drink tickets when your allotment is up.
Why this beer festival? How often do you get over to Port City Brewing Company in Alexandria? If you’re like me, not nearly enough, so here’s the excuse you need. They’ll have a solid cast of breweries, mostly local (including two DC breweries) (see list below). There will also be yard games and live music with the cover band called Road Street Avenue.
But the #1 reason to go to Port City on August 17th is that ticket holders can get the fan-favorite Schwarzbier a week early! At 5.4% ABV, this German black lager is smooth, with the scent of coffee and malt, and a taste of dark chocolate with a hoppy bite. They will also have a new barrel aged version of their Tidings Ale.
