Local legends will rout DC in mid-June.

The post-punk Priests, forged together as a band in DC in 2012, come to the 9:30 Club on June 15th for a release show for their second album, The Seduction of Kansas.

The title track is influenced by Thomas Frank’s What’s the Matter With Kansas?, which delves into the cultural phenomenon that claims Kansas is often a predictor of how the U.S. will be turn politically, as the whole state is swayed into new ideologies by propaganda and persuasion.

Heady stuff, and the single is also catchy, pop-level stuff shaped by Katie Alice Greer‘s hypnotic vocals, this time showing a more sweeter and subtle side. The band is Katie, Daniele Daniele on drums and G.L. Jaguar on guitar.

This first single from the new album is a departure from many of their raucous punk sounds from their early EPs and first album, Nothing Feels Natural.
